Today I spent a bit of time with my cousins. It was fantastic to catch up with them even briefly. Then had brunch with a Lady from my school days here in Melbourne. We worked out we were 15 when I first moved here and we became school buddies... that's a loooooong time ago!!! While saying goodbye in the car park of the shopping centre where we met, there was an Asian dude waving at someone frantically. It was an ambulance. Sheryn, my friend, is a nurse and she said it looked like they've called for the young girl being held by her mother in the car, she looked fine and healthy so we watched the entertainment. looked a typical case of PMS! The ambo's arrived and the guy got out of the passengers side of the ambulance and I INSTANTLY recognised the look on his face and the whole body language as he got his kit from the car and meandered to the vehicle.... You Ambos all know exactly what I'm talking about!!!!! It's just really funny to watch someone else doing it!!!!! Oh, and all the facebook pictures of the Melbourne ambulances with things written on the back is real.... Good on them for trying to make the public aware of the reality of how paramedics are treated by government.
After brunch I just headed west looking for somewhere dry to camp. These photos are from Ballarat. This town has some impressive buildings from 2 centuries ago, sounds cool saying that... 2 centuries ago! So I took some pictures and here they are. I didn't have any luck finding anywhere dry to set up my tent so here I am in a motel again : ) at Horsham.
Not too far from Ballarat I, and everyone behind me, was stopped by Police while a tow truck removed a vehicle from the side of the road. You know those cable guide rails we have about the place now, well some guy has gone off a strait part of the road and run along the outside of one of those about 50 M until his car hit a tree. Now on the highway here the cable rail is a good 5 -10 M from the edge of the road. Only way he could get out there is fall asleep or worse. Anyway, an interesting diversion.
Nothing much else to tell today. I'm enjoying my drive so far and looking forward to seeing Adelaide tomorrow. Then westward into, for me, uncharted territory! Looking forward to seeing what the west of this great country has to offer.
Have a nice day................
