I decided to go for a walk along the Busselton esplanade in spite of the Great rain! I didn't go as far as I'd planned as for some odd reason I got wet.... and cold.
I came across the old Busselton lighthouse which is now a visitor information building, still shut.
And the weir, where ships used to dock and load and unload cargo, there weren't even any fishermen on this one.
The view south along the beach at Bussleton. It's a really long beach and quite nice, I could just imagine it crowded with Perthians on a hot summer day, not today!
The old gate towers for the entrance to Geographe bay.
A lake on the way to Perth... not sure what it's called! The ocean is the other side of the yonder dunes the other side of the lake.
A sign.....
This is called living rocks in Yalgorup national park. Apparently the mud looking stuff is organisms growing on rocks underneath... looks like mud...smells like mud....
Blue bay bridge at Mandurah, looking north towards suburban Perth.
Fremantle beach looking south.
Proof I was in the ocean on the west coast of Oz!! WAY too cold to insert any other bodily parts...
I quite liked Fremantle. Lots of history. This is a monument to the European dude that found the place, Vasco Da Gama. He thought he was cool finding a new place.... The Aborigines had been there a while before he turned up! And so the shipping of anything that could be dug from the ground, grown on the ground, or fed by the ground bagun and is continuing....
That many ships have been wrecked here they have a museum to all the wrecks!
I had lunch here, this was the view from my table, that's a beach and ocean just past the ute....
Some of the old buildings in Fremantle, built 2 centuries ago.
Looking across Success Harbour from the flag tower.
The greeting flags at the entrance to the harbour, The sign says Fremantle is one of only 19 harbours still using greeting flags.
My first view of Perth city! I didn't end up going into the city as city traffic is the same on this side of the country as the east.... especially on a Friday arvo!
Swan estuary marine park. I'll believe them but I didn't see anything marine, except water, nor did I see a swan.
You'd hope the people that work here don't come from whichwayisup! (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha)
Saw a few of these signs in various places around WA...
More tomorrow!!
